Our Group's wholly owned subsidiary, Lian Beng Construction (1988) Pte Ltd (LBC) was awarded a US$17.4 million project for the Design and Build of 600 single-storey housing units at Raa Dhuvaafaru Island in the Republic of Maldives in 2006. The project is to cater to the four thousand people left homeless when the 2004 tsunami rolled across the tiny island of Kandholhudhoo in the Maldives. The Group are the first Singapore-listed construction company to be awarded with such a housing project in Maldives.
LBC and Lian Beng-Amin Joint Venture Private Limited was further awarded with 2 new projects in 2007 at the same island, namely the construction of community and educational buildings and the wastewater disposal/collection project. The total worth of these two projects amounts to USD 7.63 million.
